Causes and Remedies for Dandruff Problems
Every 3 out of 5 people experience dandruff issues more than once in life. This happens more on the scalp than on the hair. And when dandruff happens, no matter how one tries to hide them, but the white flakes do keep appearing. Hence, when it happens it is better to take steps and eradicate them.
Now, what exactly is dandruff? It is a
condition where white or grey flakes appear on the scalp. These are mostly dead
skin that is accumulated together on the scalp because of excess oil or sebum
production. Though they are harmless but they are very irritating at the same
point.
One can use anti
dandruff shampoo for coloured hair (there are separate shampoos
available for that) in order to remove those flakes from their stylish strands.
But before that, one has to be aware about what are the major reasons that
cause dandruff.
· Seborrhoea dermatitis is one
such reason. This is a skin condition which can be caused by the formation of
Malassezia or a yeast that happens because of oily scalp. It can cause itchy
scalp, scaly patches and stubborn dandruffs. One has to cleanse it well on a
regular basis to get rid of it.
· Dry skin is another cause of
dandruff formation. The chances of dead skin turning into flakes in quite
common. It makes the scalp peeling and this mostly happens during winter or in
any harsh climatic condition.
· If one has other skin
conditions like eczema or psoriasis then they are prone to frequent dandruff
attacks. This can be treated with proper medication or application of ointments
and medicated shampoos.
· If one does not maintain proper hygiene in their scalp then also dandruff can happen. Not shampooing the scalp at a regular interval can lead to accumulation of dirt and dead skin cells. This can affect the scalp. It causes excessive irritation, unnecessary sweating and more.
Here are some effective home remedies that one can try to remove dandruffs:
Apple Cider Vinegar
This is used in order to restore the lost
pH balance of the scalp. ACV can inhibit the growth of the yeast and can work
as a regular cleanser of natural hair. It can unclog the pores and hair
follicles. One can mix a cup of ACV with a cup of water and rinse the hair with
it after shampooing. Let it sit for 2 minutes and then wash it off.
Coconut Oil and Lemon
Lemon juice can do wonders of dandruffs. It
has anti fungal properties. On other hand, coconut oil can moisturize the dry
scalp and controls the itchiness. One can mix them both and massage the hair
and scalp with it. Let it sit for 40 minutes and wash it off with a mild
shampoo.
